Illustrator 2023 color mixer button

The color mixer button which looks like a handheld easel in the Adobe tutorial does not show up in my version of Illustrator 2023. I'm trying to set up tints of my swatches pallete bt following the tutorial and cannot. 
Is the color mixer now a plug-in or a feature I have not turned on?

You are using it in the Appearance panel.

The screenshot from the tutorial shows it in the Appearance section of the Properties panel.
