Among other huge issues with basic functiuonality like the pencil/smooth tool, Illustrator 2025 also has a glitch when creating artboards. This is my third occasion since updating where it creates a duplicate artboard 14 and artboard 13 is unable to defined. Voting this as the worst Illustrator update to date. Hope you guys can figure it out cuz this is a bummer!

Hello @gordyland,
I am sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing the exact steps to replicate this problem along with a screen recording (if possible) so I can check it with the team?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello @gordyland,
I tried to replicate this behavior on my end but could not. It would really help if you could share a screen recording of your workflow and the problem. Doing this will help me escalate this with the product team and find a solution.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yes, I had the same problem. I had duplicates—two artboards with the same number—so I wasn't able to print them. I wish I hadn't upgraded, as it is very glitchy. Please fix everything and make it run smoothly like the 2024 version!

I'm experiencing duplication issues as well.
With an item or artboard selected, holding the option key while dragging it to where I want it generates a second copy in addition to the new one. The farther I drag the item away from the original, the greater the space becomes between the [two] copies. Though, selection a single item or empty artboard and using the option key to duplicate while dragging works as it did before the latest upgrades.
This it truly disruptive to workflow now. Please address and fix this bug, Adobe.

Holding down Alt while dragging something usually creates a copy.
Maybe I do not understand your problem. Can you please describe what you expect to happen?

It sure does. but I expect one copy, not two.
Examples:
If I select the artboard tool and select an artboard with a multi-layered layout on it, then hold the option key (Mac) and drag the artboard where I want it, it duplicates the artboard AND a duplicate of the layout not with an artboard behind it. The second duplicate layout moves in the opposite direction that the duplicate artboard is dragged. Sometimes the duplicating action won't even duplicate at all and simple move the artboart. Puzzling.
If I select a number of elements, hold option while dragging them to where I want it duplicated, it makes two copies, instead of one as in the past.
See screen captutes of when a [simple] layout and artboard are duplicated with the artboard tool, select, option+drag action. This hasn't happened until the past couple of closely spaced upgrades.
Oddly, if I select a single element, or a single blank artboard and perform the same action, it duplicates it once, as expected, before the latest two Illustrator upgrades.

Hi @83Swede
Apologies for the delayed response. I tried to replicate the issue on my end but couldn’t reproduce it. It’s possible I’m missing some detail in the workflow. If you're still experiencing this issue, could you share a short video of the workflow? Also, please confirm whether the issue occurs with other files or is specific to this one.
Regards,
Srishti

Illustrator 2025 doesn't handle multiple artboards well, when you have more than 10 artboards! I have three multiple artboard files got messed up so badly, I ended up spending hours recreating, going back to Illustrator 2024 now...

Hi @Tina_macgirl,
Thanks for sharing your experience. Sorry you are running into this. Illustrator has a new release, version 30.0, now available through the Creative Cloud Desktop app. Could you please install it and test if the issue with multiple artboards still occurs there? From what I've seen and tested, closing Illustrator completely and reopening it often resolves this behavior.
You can keep version 30.0 installed alongside your older versions, so please try it out and let me know if the problem persists. Your feedback will help us look into it further with the team.
Looking forward to your update.
Abhishek
