Illustrator 2025 can only "save as" 2020

I have a subscription, but ever since 2020 I cannot save as the more recent versions. I just opened up a file using the latest version of Illustrator and these are my save options (see screenshot). It used to not bother me but now it's 5 years old and I'm paying for the latest version, so why can't it save as the latest version?

Correct answer Monika Gause

That's the most current version of the file format.

So all is OK although it looks weird.

Thanks for the response Mokina. Are you saying that "Illustrator 2020" is the latest version that would appear in the dropdown options?

Hi @kristenf93826613,

Yes, you're right that the dropdown still shows 'Illustrator 2020' as the latest version listed, but rest assured, that is the current file format. When you save in that version, your file will open just fine in Illustrator 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. The team standardized the save format across the recent versions to avoid versioning clutter and maintain smoother compatibility, so they didn’t include separate options for each individual release going forward.

Let me know if that clears things up or if you'd like help with anything else. Always happy to help!
