Illustrator 2025 has more bugs than an ant hill

After updating to the 2025 version the amount of bugs that i am encountering in my day to day usage drives me throw my computer out of the window. From the gradent colour selection randomly selecting other nodes to just trying to creating a new design where the values input revert to some random values when it starts, the problems just don't want to end and worst of all the slow down. This update feels more of a downgrade. Please help as i am getting tired of this broken progam.

The version of Illustrator is 29.1, no plugins installed so its completely vanila, windows 11 (24H2). The most of the files are effected, now and old files.

Hi, Trying to screen cap the issues is kind of difficult but will try. Also many of the issues stem from the program taking much longer than usual to process any command. One if the main ones is when you start a new project change the unit of measurement to (say) inches and input one value, just as you try to add the second value it resets the values and unit of measurement to points and this happens twice at times before i can finally create a new project.... as for the gradients issue i will have to see how i can capture a video of that.

Thanks for sharing the details. Would you mind trying to reset Illustrator's preferences as described in this article (https://adobe.ly/3P417O6) and checking if it helps with the problems with the new document window?

 

Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also save a backup of the folders, the location of which is mentioned above.

 

Our team is aware of the problem with the fonts changing when editing text, and they have tried fixing this in the latest beta release. Would you mind installing Illustrator (beta) to check if it helps resolve the problem.

It's almost unusable. I click on an object and the bounding box transform controls only show up randomly. If I zoom in, they'll sometimes appear. If I just sit and wait, they'll often appear after six or seven seconds. If I select multiple objects and try to center align them...there's another six second delay before it actually happens. I've never experienced any of these issues prior to the latest version (29.2.1)

To follow up my own issue: I tried disabling the "Enable Missing Glyph Protection" within Preferences > Type --> and voila! It seems to solve most of my problems. The infuriating delays seem to be gone. The bounding box issues are gone.

It is so bad. I am shocked by how immediately it slowed all of my work as it's the program I use the most. It's a complete mess. Font issues, slow, gradients don't work properly. It's an embarrassment. Why update the program before it's debugged and working properly?

Yes it also deletes an artboard on saving the file! Half my work is gone. How can adobe do this???

I saved it in my work folder. On opening next day one artboard was gone! Howvere I backed up at day end and lo and behold I retreived the file from my HD and opened it in 2024 version and everything was there! Same file. Seriously don't put up a version with so many bugs. What is Adobe trying to do? Lose its brand value??

And we pay for this every month! Unbelievable. And 2025 versions have many bugs as people have noted above. Its unusable really.

Hello @mauricio_6608,

I'm sorry to hear you are having the same problem in Illustrator. Would you mind trying to disable Missing Glyph Protection option in Preferences > Type to check if it helps?

Glad to know it's not just me.  I was ready to throw my computer.   This has been the most frustrating update yet.  Canva is actually outperforming Adobe Illustrator.  The bugs are misserable.

I dont understand why Adobe is insisting to make programs have bug and issues in every updates
is that kind of make users keep updating all time ???????
is this a logical mater?

look at other companies they dont do this thing
in early days in Photoshop 7 and 6 it was so amazing it was not have any issues

after starting CS versions this thing started !!!!! LOL marketing Idea " let's make a bug in every version to keep users following updats "

bro we are paying money monthly !!!!!
we dont want to keep following solutions for bug and issues then you have to get bigger rams then change GPU then throw your PC in garbage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am experiencing may bugs issues - I have lost work after saving. Many crashes. Tools and commands not working. Nothing seems to be working properly and all just random . Its is extremely annoying and fustrating. I also dont have the time to sit and list out exactly what goes wrong where and when and how. Clearly there are many bugs that everyone is having with the same and or similar issues. Please fix and address these issues - Im sure if you as an adobe person sit and just create you will experience what we all clearly are unhappy about - thanks

Mine refuses to save the images in AI format which is the only thing Minted accepts. I have a deadline and can't submit my files. I've tried everything: uninstalling and reinstalling; trying to export and save; using different devices. When in creates an AI file and you click on the file it just opens AI to that page. It won't create an actual file. I'm so screwed....

I understand how stressful this must be with a deadline coming up. To help us get a clearer picture, could you please share a quick screen recording of your workflow from the point you try to save until the issue occurs? It would also be helpful if you could confirm the exact version of Illustrator you are using and the details of your operating system.

In the meantime, please try saving your file using File > Save As and selecting Adobe Illustrator (AI) as the format instead of using export. If the issue persists, try resetting Illustrator preferences as described in this article: Reset Illustrator preferences. Do note that resetting will remove any custom settings, so you may want to back them up first.

Okay but I called Adobe today and they said that this was normal that
illustrator does not create independent files but only files within the app.
