Hi everyone,

I've been going a bit mad trying to find a fix for the pencil tool issue i'm having. When I draw a shape i'm unable to edit the path with the pencil tool. It draws right over the top of it and creates a new path. This has been happening since I've updated to the 2025 version on my mac (currenlty using version 29.2.1). I've uploaded a quick video of what I'm experiencing. I've been using illustrator for (what feels like) a million years but i'm a bit stumped on something that should be so simple.

Any advice would be ace.

Thanks

Ness

Solved.

For anyone wondering. This was yet another setting that I needed to adjust when I updated to Illustrator 2025. My pencil tool reverted the 'Edit selected paths' to 0 pixels. Have this selected and up the pixels and it works!

I have the same issue, and no matter how many pixels I put in there, the pencil tool keeps drawing a new path.
