Question

Illustrator 22.0.1 crashing on windows 10 while Opening, saving and closing

Only in Illustrator (not photoshop), whenever a windows dialog box (open, close, save)  is selected, a crash report occurs and the program closes. We tried reinstalling illustrator and photoshop, reverting perferences, signing out and in of cloud, removing plug-ins, deleting temp everything, etc. I tried logging in under someone else's name and it worked initally and stopped on the 5th save. I also tried playing with the windows dialog settings and restoring it all to defaults which made the dialog box pop up a little more, but still crashed.

Windows 10, Illustrator CC 22.0.1

I am adding my crash report: https://pastebin.com/9xH4xJBR

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. I would request if you can share a few more details like:

  1. The latest version of Illustrator we have is 24.0.2, is there any specific reason you are still using v22.0.1?
  2. Where are you trying to save the file, locally or on a network or shared drive?
  3. Is this happening with specific file or multiple files?
  4. Do you have a printer connected? If not, please set Adobe PDF as the default printer.
  5. Could you please try turning off GPU and see if that makes a difference?
  6. You can also try booting the system into Safe Mode (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/x-productkb/global/start-safe-boot-mode-mac.html) and check how it works there.

Regards

Hi,

1. It is district issued so I can't install a new version on my own.

2. I am trying to save or open it from anywhere, but I can't get the dialog box to open to even have an option to choose.

3. No specific file. I can't save a blank new file or a preexisting file. I can't open a file from inside Illustrator, but can from a pre-made file outside of the program.

4. I tried the printer fix. I did PDF and network printers, neither worked.

5. I saw that fix too and tried turning off GPU. It still crashes. But interesting, it is rechecked and the intro screen shows up every restart.

6. I can try safe mode, but need admin rights to do it. -Super annoying.

Thanks

Thanks for sharing the details, could you please confirm if the software was installed through a deployment method? If yes, I would request to check with the Admin and try re-installing. Also, you can check if it's happening with only your computer or with others as well.
