Things I tried:

- Uninstall + Reinstall Illustrator

- Delete Illustrator settings

When happening - Windows System 11:

- Create New Document

- Make changing

- Menu > Save as

Nothing happens > have to shut down via task manager.

thx in advance for your help

I'm having basically the same issue. Mine crashes when doing any kind of saving. Well, I guess crash isn't correct. It stops responding and I have to use task manager to end it. I let it go all night once and it was still not responding the next morning. I've tried the same steps you have and am still having issues.

HP Z4 Workstation

Intel Xeon W-2125 4.0 GHz processor

32 GB RAM

Invidia Quadro P2000 video card

Windows 10 Pro for Workstations fully up to date

Adobe Illustrator 28.1

At which point does it crash? As soon as you open the save dialog?

Where are you saving files?

As soon as I click "Save". It doesn't matter where I save. I usually save to the same network drive I've been saving to for the last 11 years, but I can save locally and it will do the same thing.

What kind of graphics board does your computer have? And which version of Adobe Illustrator are you using? Close to a year ago there was a combination of an Adobe Illustrator release and NVidia graphics card driver that were not compatible. The Illustrator application window would disappear within a minute or two after launching. I had to stick with an older NVidia driver on my computer until they released a proper update later in the Spring of this year. Anyway, the point is this: make sure your graphics card driver is up to date. If you're using an older version of Illustrator CC it might be a good idea to bump up to the current version if possible. Check for anything else due for updates, even the BIOS/UEFI firmware for the computer.

Another thing worth trying is removing Illustrator using the CC Cleaner tool and then re-installing the application.

Thx for your reply. The whole system (Bios, Drivers, Adobe Apps...) is up to date.
Tried with CC Cleaner - still same issue.

Hello @Anstalt 37.5,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind trying to run Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and checking if it helps?

Also, try performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://adobe.ly/3H0skxl) and share your observations.

If the problem persists, kindly share more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, the folder location where you're trying to save, and a screen recording of the problem (https://adobe.ly/3tBNHlg), so we can investigate this further.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Is Illustrator allowed to write on the disk?

Yes - there were no problems with prior versions.
