Illustrator 28.2 menu bar not selectable after applying with 3D effects.

Hello everyone, I'm using Illustrator 28.2 on macOS 14.2.1. When I apply a 3D effect to an object, I copy and paste it. If I now remove the 3D effect for the second object, the menu bar is no longer selectable. I have to close the APP and restart it. Anyone else having this problem or have a solution for it?

Thank you.

I have tried to do this, but cannot reproduce it.

You are using Sonoma and there are some inexplicable bugs with it. So that might be causing it (independently from the 3D effect or the copy or whatever. You might also try if rebooting the system or resetting the Illustrator preferences helps.

Is that the latest version of Sonoma or is there maybe an update available?

I had the same problem when applying Gaussian Blur to a closed path or object when the color was black. Changing the color to another color in the Swatches panel solves the problem.

The menu display issue was resolved with the Sonoma 14.4 update.
So it seems that this problem was an OS issue.
Please check after updating Sonoma 14.4.

I was able to reproduce this bug using Sonoma 14.3.1 + Illustrator 28.2.
In that case, the Illustrator menu or Help menu should be displayed instead of everything disappearing, so please display it.
The other menus should then reappear. try it.

1. I've created on object, no matter if rectangle or circle.

2. I applied a 3D effect and materials to this object (extrude or inflate) and adjusted light and materials.

3. Now I made a copy of the particular object, including the 3D effect.

4. For the new object I've selected the properties flyout menu and deleted the 3D effect by clicking on the trashcan icon.

5. Once I did this the main menu bar gets stuck and cannot be selected anymore. However I can use keyboard shortcuts to create new documents, save the current drawing etc.. The mouse pointer will move and I can select any other tool and make use of it. It is just the menu bar, that it is frozen until I restart Illustrator.
