Illustrator 29.1 lags in almost every tool , I downgraded to 28.3 version, works smooth and fast.

Anyone having the same problem?

Hello @mustafae68234948,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing some more details, like the exact version of the OS, system specs, and if Illustrator behaves this way when working with a specific tool/feature/file, so I can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi there, win11 i7 16gb geforce gtx 1660 6gb, I noticed it recently in almost every tool , during panning, when using pen tool etc. It feels like it just freezes for a couple seconds and act normal later until you try to use another tool .Lagging and freezing vanished after downgrading to 28.3 version.

Thanks

Is it possible for you to add more RAM to your computer? I'd bump the RAM up to 32GB or more if possible. Is it a desktop system with open RAM slots on the motherboard? Some notebook models have removable RAM modules and can be upgraded. Unfortunately so many models of notebook computers, not just those from Apple, have "baked-on" RAM. The modules are soldered onto the motherboard. IMHO it's a very bad practice, at least from the customer perspective.

The GTX 1660 is a decent graphics board; the model is 5 years old now. Still, I think the performance bottleneck may be coming via the amount of RAM in the system. Also, is the main boot drive of the computer a SSD? I don't remember off hand when most computer manufacturers shifted away from using old fashioned hard discs to using solid state drives. My previous notebook PC got a decent performance boost when I replaced its original hard disc with a SSD.
