Illustrator adds 0.014in to every shape I create.

Hey there folks!

I've been having this bizarre issue that I have not been able to figure out. I have updated Illustrator to the newest version, uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing seems to be working.

The issue is that whenever I create a shape and I manually input the height and width, once the shape is created when I reselect it, the shape is 0.014in larger that the measurements I had inputed.

This has really caused me some issues, especially when it comes to precise production work... if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated! I have attached a few photos to clarify the problem.

Is Use Preview Bounds checked in the Preferences? If it is, the the number you are seeing includes the 1 pt stroke in the path.

That is likely the placement of the stroke (outside or center) adding to your shape's width. Change the Stroke Alignment to Inside and you should see the size go back to what you set.

Turn off use preview bounds.

You can do this from align flyout menu or the general prefs.
