When using the brush tool in illustrator, every once in a while it glitches out and instead of getting 1 smooth stroke it breaks apart like shown. I'm using an ipad as a tablet and I've cleaned it, put a new screen protector on it and I still get this issue so I don't think it's the ipad. It happens intermittently. Any ideas?

So the iPad is connected via Sidecar?
Does it work reliably in other apps, such as Photoshop?
Can you set options for the speed of the Pencil? Or the proximity of the Pencil?
Also: does it work better without the screen protector?
How about using the iPad version of Illustrator for that part of the job?

It's actually Duet, it doens't skip in Photoshop. It behaves the same without the screen protector. I did try out the Illustrator for iPad but its so laggy and awful, this is the only way I can get this work done. The performance is excellent with Duet with the exception of this occasional glitch.

Just curious: what's the reason you're not using Sidecar? I don't have a Wacom anymore and using my iPad instead of it for the few cases when I need a tablet was always an option.

There was a reason, but I don't remember it now tbh. I think I needed one of the features of Duet that Sidecar didn't have. I guess I can give it another try though.
