Any idea why the Pen tool now appears as an 'X' when caps lock is OFF, and the pen icon when caps lock is on? This glitch came with the 2015.3 and is quite annoying. Working with caps lock constantly on is a no go.

Please check if playing with this setting in preference helps you

With all due respect, I wouldn't be on the forum if this matter could be solved in the Preferences panel. There is a glitch in how the pen tool functions, a 'X' appears when caps lock is off (not on).

Been trying to get this fixed since 2013....

    1. create a rectangle

    2. add a fill and stroke

    3. change the stroke to a gradient and make it big enough to see

    4. change the stroke cap to round and cap corner to round join

    5. change the gradient to apply gradient along stroke or across stroke

    6. Now Align the stroke inside or outside...oh you can't.

I do this to nearly everything and have been for years...very strange problem

CS6 it worked flawlessly. I have been reporting it as a bug since 2013...the only fix was greying out the buttons (before you could click on them but AI wouldn't do anything.)

Yeh same with me, and notice that if I select align stroke first, you still can't apply gradient along or across stroke.  Difficult to workaround too...

Also Illustrator is just completely slow since the update, and Creative Cloud Libraries are refusing to work.  May reinstall if I get the chance, but have a big workload at the moment...   And still nothing done about my little bugbear - the fact that the canvas is limited to 227x227"....  the longer you bugs have been reported for, the more likely they are to stay, it seems

Since the update prior to this my docs have been crashing all the time over nothing, and on different machines too. This is still happening with this update, only this time the automatic recovery feature is no longer working... Great "update" guys. I am now back to CS5 since it doesn't crash repeatedly for no apparent reason.

NEW GLITCH OF THE DAY!! AWESOME!!

When I select an item (object, text, image, etc) there is a 3.5 to 4 second delay before the bounding box appears, however, when I deselect this item and select it again, the bounding box appears instantly. Until the bounding box appears, I'm unable to move, resize, modify or manipulate an item. I'm one of those crazy designers that tends to use more than one item per drawing, so this delay is becoming pretty tedious when trying to create my work...........MY WORK, THAT MY CUSTOMERS PAY ME TO DO.

Adobe, my company pays you a lot of money for this product, so please do your work and patch this product ASAP.

    HERE'S A NEW ONE.

Thanks for disabling data recovery. I didn't need to finish my clients work today! FML

If I wanted this kind of instability I'd run CorelDraw.

The Illustrator CC 2015.3 upgrade is awful. The new transform "rotate" dropdown is terrible. I want the old one back.

Another problem is that the Illustrator app is always on top. Other apps are always hidden below, which makes it difficult to work with other apps at the same time. That needs to be fixed now.

Worse still, I don't see any way to roll back to the previous version.

What were you guys thinking when you rolled out this stupid upgrade?

The feature that removed the ability to see the anchor points when the "selection too" is in use is actually the most frustrating thing in the world for our company. We need to have the number of points simplified and we use this production for production items. We will also with use the anchor points for alignment and placement of objects and objects that are in groups. We actually need this feature put back or at least a way customers can turn it on and off. Anyway that this can be fixed? We are having the hardest time!!

Hi, the new version that was installed from Creative Cloud is only in English? How do I get a french version like all my other Adobe's apps?

    Thanks for answering,

A couple small items that probably don't deserve their own thread:

    • I wish Illustrator inherited InDesign's "Export" feature, which remembers the output format, filename and settings. It's a small thing, but doing a "Save a Copy," deleting the word "copy" from the filename, selecting PDF, and then having to adjust the PDF settings every single time gets old. In InDesign that's command-E, hit return, done.
    • Hitting return brings up a dialog with the transformation tools and I use this very frequently. If I want to scale something 90%, I type S to get the scale tool, then return to bring up the dialog, 90, then return and it's done. Unfortunately, this no longer works for Scale because the scale field doesn't have keyboard focus. I notice that I can hit TAB twice to get there, but please fix this. Rotate and Shear work fine.

This is on OS X 10.11.5, Illustrator 20.0.0.

I know exactly what you mean regarding saving out copies and having to jump through the same hoops each time. I have created actions to get around this and then added a folder action to remove the copy text from the file name - so it's all as automated as possible.

The second point about the scale dialogue box is a good point though. This is obviously a bug and needs to be fixed!
