So, i've just upgraded my PC from Windows 7 (everything was fine before) to Windows 10, everything seems to be working fine with my Photoshop CC and Fireworks, then i tried to open my an illustrator file with AI and the program stopped working. I've tried running it in compatiblity mode and it wont work too? I did a troubleshoot, and i said that it has compatibility issue. Is there anyway to fix this?

Thanks,

naradhipak,

You may consider a fresh installation of Windows 10, then reinstall the application(s). It has worked in this case:

Adobe Illustrator CC 2015 not launching on Windows 10 Pro.

I worked with Adobe Tech Support yesterday. As soon as they turned off the GPU Performance, CC 2015 worked fine. I'm working on Windows 10 with NVIDIA graphics card. My brother said it appears to be a driver issue and hopefully MS, Adobe and NVIDIA will send out an update so that the GPU accelerator can be used properly.

Also, they had to rename a couple of folders in the settings folder under AppData (en-us folder) before starting up AI.

Any chance you could list the folders to rename?   I am feeling lost with out AI  working.

Yes. Go to AppData>Roaming>Adobe folder. In this folder, depending on how far back you've been an user of Adobe products you may see Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings, Adobe Illustrator 17 Settings and Adobe Illustrator 19 Settings.

In each of these folders if you are using English and in the United States, you'll see a folder named en_US. Rename that en_US.old in each of the aforementioned folders. Then go back and open up Adobe Illustrator. When you do this a new en-US folder will be generated for Adobe Illustrator 19 Settings.

In Illustrator, close out the start window. Then either go to Preferences>GPU or click on the rocket icon at the top. A window will open and you need to uncheck the GPU Performance box. Click OK.

Those are the steps that were taken during my two sessions with the Remote Support people during a tech support chat session.

As soon as I unchecked the GPU Performance I was able to create a new document and open a document. Previously, to that fix Illustrator would crash as soon as I clicked on 'Open' or when I clicked on OK have setting the page size and settings.

I hope that helps.

Hi Naradhipa,

Can you please check if you have Tahoma  (regular) font installed? On some users it got removed somehow with win 10 upgrade.

Sanjay.

I experienced a similar issue on my Surface Pro, following upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. The preferences appear to be corrupt, or there is an underlying permissions issue with Windows 10.
