Illustrator CC (2017) freezes and crashes when trying to open or save a file (Mac).

This just started happening to me recently. I can create a new document and work on it, but when I try to save it Illustrator freezes and either crashes or I have to force quit it. Then I can try and open that file, the same thing happens.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Illustrator, it's updated to the newest version, and I just updated my OS (running 10.12.6). I'm not sure what to try next, but any suggestions are welcome!

    Where are you trying to save it?

    Try your local drive.

    Is a printer connected, set up and turned on?

    I'm just trying to save it to a folder on my desktop, and there is not a printer connected

    Please connect and set up a printer.

    If you don't have one, install a PDF printer.
