Illustrator CC 2017 very slow!

Hello! I am running Illustrator CC 2017 on a 27' iMac Retina 5K with OS Yosemite 10.10.5 In the last week or so Illustrator has started to run very slowly - opening files, saving files - basic stuff. Anyone else experiencing problems or have any suggestions? No problems with InDesign or Photoshop. Thx...

      If you've been running Illustrator OK up till now then it's possible that your preferences might have become corrupt. Try resetting them.

      To do so:

      For Macintosh Users: With Illustrator closed launch a Finder Window in column view and click on your home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. Within the Library folder find the folder called Preferences and within it find the following two files and delete them: “Adobe Illustrator <Version #> Settings” (earlier versions of Illustrator might just say “Adobe Illustrator”) and “com.adobe.Illustrator.plist”. When Illustrator is next launched it will create new preference files and the program will be restored to its defaults.

      After you’ve reset up the program (make sure that no document window is open) to your liking, it is a really good idea to create copies of your personalized “mint” preference files (make sure that you quit the program before copying them—that finalizes your customization) and use them in the future to replace any corrupt versions you may need to delete.

      For Windows Users: Hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift when launching Illustrator and respond affirmatively when asked if you want to reset.

      got indesign and illustrator to fiy again was very slow. uninstall from cloud app delete preference when to choose, reinstall add short cut to task bar first then go to start menu right click to run as administrator (windows10 or other windows) did it to both programs and worked also help menu didn't work before now it takes to adobe site. Give it try seriously. GPU enable now. Another thought maybe run it as administrator first

        Hi Bill! Thanks for your suggestions to this problem. I have reset the preferences as above but unfortunately it made no difference, I also uninstalled and reinstalled Illustrator - again the opening and saving of files still takes a long time - 4/5 minutes for a small eps file! When the file is open Illustrator functions as it should, only when saving it takes 'forever'! We work from a server but have tried placing the file on the iMac desktop and working from there - same thing, very slow to open and save. Any further ideas? Thanks in advance...

        I use these options for large projects. Working speed increases.

        1- Use font management program. Turn off unused fonts.
        2 - Turn off the Animated Zoom function. Preferences> GPU Performance> Animated Zoom
        3. Focus on Preferences> File Handling & Clipboard> Files. Mark these two options. A) Use Low Resolution Proxy ... and b) Display Bitmaps as Anti-Aliased ...
        4- Check the Scratch Disks options. Primary Disk: A disk where the system is not installed.
        5 Temporarily change the "Document Raster Effects Settings" settings. Resolution: 72. Attention, make this value 300 ppi when sending to the press.
        6 Temporarily turn off the Anti-alias option. Turn this option ON before sending the print.
        7 - Change file recording formats. Work with TIFF and JPEG file recording formats and test speed.

        8- Preferences>General> Anti-Aliased Artwork (uncheck)
