Illustrator CC 2018 gradients displaying solid black

So within the past few months something has changed with how my AI displays gradients that are overlaid over a color. For example I use a solid green rectangle. Over top that rectangle I will lay another rectangle with a black to white gradient with 100% multiply to give it a look of black to green. When I export for web it will show up correctly as well as when I send to my RIP software to print it will show correctly. But AI will display as just solid black. Is there a issue with the newest version of AI or is there some sort of setting I may have changed by accident?

Can you try if View > Preview on CPU helps?

What else did change during this period of time?

    Your system?

    New hardware?

Nothing that I know of has changed. I did update AI. With that being said today I did go back and uninstall AI and installed a older version of AI and they are now displaying the same solid black still which almost makes me think I have accidentally changed a setting somewhere.
