Illustrator CC 2019 Releasing All Clipping Masks When Opening File

Hi there,

I'm experiencing issues with my .ai files releasing the clipping masks for my objects when opening.

They preview correctly in finder but once I open them, they release!

I have the latest update (CC 2019) and even tried using CC 2018 but still no luck. A coworker even tried using their system to open it and they also had the same issue.

Help?!

Just created a file from scratch and also having issues with clipping masks.

Though not exactly in the same way. working on a complex vector illustration, can't use the eyedropper for some strange reason to colour my shape in as Illustrator keeps turning this shape into a clipping mask.

No matter how much I release, nothing will do. Usually reapplying a pathfinder option to such a shape would solve the issue, except that it does not.

I have somewhat been able to resolve my issue but I am not even certain how... something is very wrong with this version of Illustrator right now. My usual troubleshooting does not work.

Since I'm working on confidential material, am I able to send you an email with the screenshots so I'm not posting publicly?
