Illustrator CC how to setup custom document profile

How do I set up a custom document profile in Illustrator CC and save it for future use?

I do not see any way to save it.

I think you have to create a new document, set all your preferred options, leave it empty, and save it as a template file, ready to reuse .

Otherwise you can:

Create a new document, set all your preferred options, leave it empty, and save it in the same folder of the adobe preset.

To find the correct path select the preset profile menu, in the new document window, and choose browse.

But I got it!

Seriously They are saved in Application Support > Adobe > ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR CS6...

NEVER would have looked there, thought I was now running CC????

I'm happy that you have solved the problem!

In my Mac this presets are saved under adobe illustrator 17 (correct CC version)...

Probably some old settings in your system are pointing to the  CS6 folder... but I think this is not a real problem.

I have no idead how to navigate to the "Roaming" folder as it doesn't exist anywhere concrete. So here's what I do...

- Create a new document in the exact way you want your new documents to open

- Save As

- Click on the C: drive then do a search (upper right text box in that window) for "Roaming"

- As it slowly searches the drive, there will be several "Roaming" folders that appear in your search. Make sure you pay attention to the Folder column because the specific one you want is the one that says - AppData (C:\Users\XXX) where XXX is your user name on your computer.

- After selecting that specific Roaming folder, continue navigating to:

Adobe > Adobe Illustrator 17 Settings > en_US > x64 > New Document Profiles

You'll see the default ones in there already (Basic RGB, Devices, Print, Video, Web). So set up the file the way you want your new ones to be and save it as a .AI in there. Once you do that, you'll be able to open a new document and select the file you just saved.

It's a pain in the butt but it's great to have default documents. I use it every single day.

There is an easier way to find the roaming folder. In the file exlorer type %AppData% and enter. It will directly take you to the App data folder and you will find roaming there.

I make this setup, save it as .ait in the New Document Profiles folder.

But when creating a new document with this profile, I get two artboards and rulers.

Whatever I try - I always get the 'Video Rulers (who uses these?)', and two artboards.

Does anyone have a clue?

Do you have different versions on your computer?

In which folder exactly did you save the AI file?

Hello,

I know how to setup templates and I have done it already but now I want to do something more complex, perhaps(?). I want to have a document profile with embedded sizes.

You see when you choose Print and have all the A4, A3 artboard sizes? Or when you select Devices, you get iPad Air, iPad Mini, iPhone, Android 1080, Nexus 5, etc?

That's what I want. I want to create a Social Media document profile with Facebook cover size, Google cover size, etc...

I know I can have templates saved elsewhere but I want to know if this is possible.

If you're on a Mac:

Save a document to the New Document Profiles folder under Users > Library > Application Support > Adobe > [your current version of Illustrator]. If the Library folder is hidden, or to get to it quickly, go from the Finder: click the Go menu in the Finder Menu bar and hold down Option to reveal hidden files.

From there, you can either open and edit the default files (Basic RGB is my favorite place to start) or save an existing file. It will load the swatches, graphic styles, default symbols, character/paragraph styles, document raster settings, and default artboard size.

Open a new document - custom the document and then - Save As Template

Illustrator will save your custom settings in an ai document
