Where in the hell is my puppet warp tool? I understand it should be in the free transform tool dropdown, but I don't have the dropdown option. See image below:

That is correct that feature came later than CS6.

Quit Illustrator and then relaunch and immediately hold down Cmd+Opt+Ctrl+Shft - this will reset your preferences. See if that helps.
