Hi all,

I am having an issue with the Illustrator line segment tool where instead of drawing a single line it will draw multiple lines at once. If I move the mouse with the line segment tool engaged it will draw multiple lines radiating from the origin point. The image below illustrates what I am talking about. It was drawn simply by moving the mouse.  Does anyone know what is happening? I have had a look online and cannot find anyone else having this problem. It is a new problem as before the CC2020 update it all worked fine.

Basically, this is an intended behaviour while using the tool and holding down the Tilde key at the same time (at least in English versions of Illustrator).

In other international versions the key combination may vary.

In case it happens without using any key combo intentionally, the first thing I would try is to close Illustrator and then restart it. Most of the time it will cure the issue.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. Please share version of Illustrator and OS.
I would suggest following steps:
1. Restart your computer.
2. If it does not solve your problem, reset preferences. Follow

https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html#setting_illustrator_preferences to do that.

*Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to.
Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Ashutosh
