Everytime I import an image to Illustrator, it changes the colors of other images/ shapes in the document. They get a lot darker. The image itself stays the same color as it had before importing it. I tried importing different images to see if the image might be the problem but it looks like there is something wrong with the file. I checked my color settings and profiles: My document is in RGB, with settings: North America General Purpose 2. I am working in Illustrator 27.9.
Is there anyone who knows how I can fix this?
Thanks!

What kind of images are you placing?
Do you link or embed them?
Can you share that document? Don't need the whole document, just enough to check the problem.
Use Dropbox, cc filesharing, Google or WeTransfer for sharing.

Already found the problem! Thanks for your response, the images were still in CMYK mode I guess, I changed them via edit colors > convert to RGB

So when you changed the image to RGB, the colors in your document changed back to what they were?
Images will always be shown in the document color mode, especially embedded images will become RGB in an RGB document.
I still do not understand how placing an image can change the colors of other elements in your file.

Is not possible to help without information of exactly the process you used and what you are experiencing.
If your Illustrator document is RGB, than the RGB working space is important to match in lets me take a wild guess >> photoshop. You can use Bridge>> Edit Color Settings >> to synchronize all your apps to the same Color Settings.
