Illustrator closes when closing a document

Hi, I am running the latest OS and CC version of Ilustrator. When I work on most files, may different ones, and go to close the file by clicking on the red "x", illustrator crashes and I need to reopen the app. I have reset the preferences already. It doesn't happen everytime, but maybe every third time, approximately but in no regular pattern. It frustrating to have to reopen the app 20+ times a day. This started with the 24.0 update. Any suggestions?

Hi

To close a file and not the application do one of these:

  • Click the x in the document tab, not in the application window 
  • File > Close
  • Ctrl+W

 

If Illustrator keeps crashing, then Quit and reset Preferences.

Hello- Thanks for the response. Respectfully, is there a way to fix the bug? I am not sure if you read above, I have already reset the preferences. And hitting control+W is not my preferred method of working. We pay alot of money for these programs and bugs like these surely get in the way of productivity. Something that worked for 20 years should work today, right? Any other ideas?
