Illustrator Copy and Paste to Fontlab

Hi, this isn't so much a problem as a want to understand the method and process.

I have noticed that from different apps, when copying from them and then subsequently pasting to Fontlab, they copy as a pixel image that requires tracing to get an editable vector, but... when doing the same thing from Illustrator it will paste as a vector with nodes so no tracing is required.

Apps I've tried are Sketch and Inkscape, from these apps you create a vector and copy it Ctrl + C but you get a pixel artwork that you must trace in Fontlab.

Why can Illustrator copy/paste vector to another app but the ones mentioned above cannot?

Note: I generally export to a vector format and import in but I just noticed this a while ago and now I'm curious.

That is a question you would need to ask the other vendors.

You would need to find information in Fontlab about which kind of clipboard content it can paste as vector

And then try and change the clipboard options in the other apps.

In Illustrator you find the setup in the Preferences > File handling and clipboard. It seems to be set up in the correct way for you. So maybe you can set up the other apps the same way.
