Illustrator Crashes On Start

Hey,

So when I open up Illustrator, it loads, allowing me to choose a document type, but then it crashes and shows the below message.

In response to this I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, rebooted the computer, I installed some drivers  which temporarily fixed the issue, however it is now happening to both Illustrator and Photoshop.

What else have you done for trouble-shooting so far?

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:
