Illustrator Crashes

I originally had the crashes (prior to the last two upgrades) - no rhyme or reason. The programme could be sitting with nothing even open and it would crash. I managed to fix it... (not sure how)... As I was just following and trying a heap of different things...

Except with the latest upgrade to Illustrator my crashes have started again...So frustrating....

I have reinstalled illustrator to see if that would work have checked the printer spooling have checked to see if there is any crazy fonts.

Have reset preferences have removed preferences....

I am still having issues!

Right looks like I am all fixed.... (well so far so good... no crashes)

I have done a number of things...

    • Updated to Windows 10
    • Made the printer default to PDF

    So far so good.

    Which version?

    Which system?

    Any third party plugins?

    What kind of printer?

    Is that a printer queue?

    All fonts checked?

What exactly is happening step by step?

    Which version? Illustrator CC (2017)

    Which system? PC

    Any third party plugins? Nope

    What kind of printer? Network

Is that a printer queue? yes

    All fonts checked? yes

I can use it on another machine and it works perfectly.

It doesn't seem to have any particular thing that I am doing to cause it to crash. the programme can be sitting with nothing open or a file open and it will freeze or I can be moving objects etc. So there is not one thing that is causing it to crash as such.

It was doing the same thing last year and I am not sure what I did to fix it. But then when I installed the latest updates its gone back to the crashing.

    Hi Emma,

Since you've already tried the basic troubleshooting steps, I would recommend to create a new user account in your pc (Admin) and check illustrator in it. Do share the result.
