Are there any known issues with Photoshop DCS 2.0 files and compatibility with Illustrator.
I am creating a color channel separated photoshop file containing spot colors and placing the saved DCS 2.0 file with the artwork into Illustrator so that our printer software is able to open it. Our print software was able to open the AI file and pull the spot color information no problem. However, when I go to re-open the Ai file that I saved on my PC it is crashing the program.
I have confirmed that there is no issue with the linked file, the file size is not particularly large and both of my software's are up to date.

Hello @Kristin23532869jqb3,

We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. I tried to replicate this behavior on my end but could not do so.

Would you mind sharing some more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, where your files are saved (internal/external/network drive or cloud-synced folder like Google Drive/Dropbox/etc.), screenshots of the export settings used, a sample file (https://adobe.ly/48mVuSl), and a screen recording of the problem (https://adobe.ly/3uxHR57), so we can investigate this further?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,
Anubhav

I am working in Illustrator v 28.2 and Photoshop v 25.5 on a windows PC.
The files are being saved in cloud synced folders through google drive ( also tested this issue with files saved to the desktop and that did not resolve the problem.
I have attached mages below of the photoshop file with the color channels, the DCS 2.0 save settings as well as the Ai settings when I go to save the AI with the placed DCS 2.0 file.

We ar etesting to see if we are able to utilize photoshop for any of our sublimation printing. since w ework using spot colors of course vector based artwork is ideal, however there are some things our designers are requesting that may be easier to achieve in photoshop. We would like to be able to utilize our sublimation spot colors within the photoshop program.

Hello @Kristin23532869jqb3,

Thank you for providing additional details. It seems like you're encountering a challenging issue with Illustrator crashing when opening files with linked DCS 2.0 files placed in them.

To further investigate and address this issue, I recommend submitting the crash report as outlined in this helpx article: Crash: Next Steps. Make sure to use the email address associated with your Adobe Community account so we can track it down efficiently.

Additionally, could you please share a public download link to the AI file along with the linked DCS 2.0 file? This will enable us to replicate the issue and investigate further on our end.

Furthermore, it would be helpful if you could provide your system info from the Illustrator help menu and details about your system specs, such as CPU, GPU, and RAM.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work towards resolving this issue for you.

Best regards,

Anshul Saini
