Illustrator crashing when saving

Doesn't happen every save, but will eventually happen and then I lose all my work. I have a printer installed. 

Did recently update to Big Sur. using CC Ai 25.2.3.

I jumped on a call with Apple support and we did a lot of things, including uninstalling and reinstalling illustrator and it seems to have helped.

Is the printer set up as the default printer?

Is the printer driver up to date?

Is the printer turned on?

 

Anything special when the crashes occur? Like: you save to a different location? To a network? With long folder names? Special characters?

Yes it is the default printer and is on. 

 

 

I can check the driver. 

 

It happens randomly and doesn't seem to have any reason. I am saving to normal places, with normal names, It will crash or new or opened files.

before installing the printer, did Adobe Illustrator work correctly? Have you tried to reset the software preferences?

Yes it worked properly with the same printer for ages. Maybe a year or more. 

 

How do I reset software preferences?

Hi ZoMoonbeam,
Press and hold Alt + Control + Shift (Windows) or Option + Command + Shift (macOS) as you start Illustrator. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Illustrator.
