Illustrator CS5 - Text transparent gestalten

Community Beginner ,

Liebe Mitstreiter,

jwqlb,

Another way would be to simply (described for each set):

Select the black lower letter and the white upper letter, just keep them as live Type, then in the Transparency palette flyout click Make Opacity Mask with Clip unticked and Invert Mask ticked.

You will need to create outlines of the glyphs and then select the inner counters of the D and O and delete. Create outlines of the I and T and center them on the outlines of the D and O. Select the D and I outlines and use Object>Compound Path>Create. This should give you a transparent counter. If it does not show as transparent, Direct Select the counter and change Attributes> Winding direction.

Here is another method which would allow you to keep the text editable in the Illustrator document. In this example, I put an orange rectangle behind the text so that you could easily see that the top letter becomes transparent.

  1. Create the type.
  2. Select only the white letter, and change the stroke and fill to None.
  3. With the top letter still selected, open the Appearance panel and add a new fill.
  4. Drag the Fill below the Characters.
  5. Set the Opacity of the new fill to zero.
  6. Select both letters and Group them.
  7. In the Appearance panel, click on Opacity and select Knockout Group.

Now when you export as PNG, the top letter will be transparent. If you ever need to edit the original Illustrator file, the type will be "live" and editable.
