Illustrator CS6 checking for CC license. Why?

I run a bunch of diffenrent versions of adobe programs on my mac (mac OS Mojave).

After uprading the OS, I'm trying to open Illustrator CS6 but it's checking for a license of Illustrator CC (which I don't have licended atm). Which basicly means, I can't use my tools.

Why is it doing this and how do I fix it?

As it turns out, I had the exact same issue on my older machine running an older version of Mac OS.

Tried some of the tips, but nothing worked as intended.

In the end, uninstalling and reinstalling Illustrator with the license key did the trick. Program seems to be working now on both machines under Mojave and El Capitan. This was NOT a compatibility issue, but some problem with the Creative Cloud after the license for the newer product expired.

That's not really the point, is it?

Photoshop and Indesign are working just fine. And I can't tell if Illutrator is working or not, when it's trying to check the license for the wrong version.

Illustrator CS6 has caused issues in High Sierra and Sierra. The system specs list 10.9 as the highest compatible system. So yes, Mojave is the point.

There's just not much of an indication for Mojave being the problem.

(or at least not, that it's a compatibility issue)

Opening CS6 checks for a CC license. But only with Illustrator, not with the rest of my CS6 programs. They boot up just fine.

Totally different code base compared to the other applications.

In the forums there is not much experience with Illustrator CS6 on Mojave (if at all). So you're the first.

You can try in the Creative Cloud forum, since they probably know more about how the licensing is handled, but that's it. CS6 has never been made for Mojave and won't be adjusted for it. If you want to keep running it (and trust me I can fully understand all the reasons you would want to do so), then run it on an older system. You can get a 2008 or 2009 Mac Pro for some hundred bucks and they are very powerful machines. I know that, because I'm currently using one. On top of everything they are robust as are the older systems.

I do agreee.

I still have and older Macbook Pro that I keep at an older OS version. It's just a very weird thing that the license check does and not the program itself failing (as far as I can tell).
I'll try my luck at the other forum, thanks for the advice.

Hi Jonas,

Sorry to hear about this. As Monika and others suggested above, Mojave is not a compatible Operating System for CS6 applications. If you have an old system with Mac OS X v10.6.8 or v10.7. Then please install CS6 applications there and check if it shows the same error or not?

If it gives the same error on old system as well, please try these steps: Error: "Licensing has stopped working" | Mac OS

It does sound like it could be a Mojave issue, but I did find this older post Adobe CS6 keeps asking for registration and wondered if you have at some point installed a newer version, maybe a trial, of any other Adobe software. If so, you could try the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool recommended from that post.
