Illustrator CS6 Error Code 1

Guest

I recently purchased Illustrator CS6 from an authorized re-seller. It would work for a day, and then I'd get error code 1. That code says to un-install and re-install the product, which is what I did. Every day. Now, I have received a message that my serial number has been flagged as being pirated. I assume because I kept using it over and over again, but I find that odd because when I re-installed I always used my Adobe ID.

So, now what do I do? I don't need all the bells and whistles (or expense) of the CC version. Illustrator CS6 is plenty for me, but if I keep getting error code 1 then what is the solution?

An authorized reseller couldn't have sold you this product only recently. It's been out of stock for at least two years.

So most likely someone has sold you fraud software.

Perhaps you could contact Adobe support in order to know for sure.

I did not buy the software. I purchased a serial number. The software came straight from Adobe, as I downloaded the installer files and ran them. The error code 1 is the issue, I feel.

That serial number might also be a fraud.

If you are 100% certain that everything is legal, then please refer to this thread: Pirate software alerts ever 15 minutes.

Maybe some of the tipps in there help.

debm,

In addition to what Monika said, it has obviously been possible to create seemingly genuine serial numbers which may even be registered (from CS5 on registration has been part of registration), so it has been possible to sell pirated software/serial numbers that would work, but Adobe has taken action to weed them out by going through registered serial numbers and take out the fake ones.

Unfortunately, often/mostly it will be too late, or just impossible, to get back to the seller in any way, especially if some time has passed.

Whichever is said about eBay, if you have bought it through them, it may be possible to have them intervene, especially if the (re)seller has made a statement about its being new/unused.

Interesting. Do you both think that the error code 1 is caused by the pirated serial number? I mean, if the serial was bad, it shouldn't have let debm keep using it over and over, right? The error code is what made her have to uninstall/reinstall, because that's what it says to do. A quick google shows that debm isn't alone in getting that code, and that the solution is to either uninstall/reinstall or do a clean install of the OS.

I'm sorry I don't have a solution, but if I'm reading this right then the error made the problem. If debm had to uninstall/reinstall a bunch of times, I wouldn't be surprised if that is what flagged the serial as bad.

Since September 2015 you could only buy CS6 by calling a specific telephone number at Adobe. Since January 2017 you could not buy it anymore. It was just impossible to buy it from a reseller "recently".

The thread opener has to contact customer support in order to fix this. This cannot be solved by resetting something or by deleting some files and then installing again.
