Hi
So we just starting using ai, we got our license key everything seems fine but apparently it says the key is already in use, what do i do?
The firm we bought it from is legit by the way.

Allan,
The licence key must be transferred through Adobe. The legal owner is the one that has it registered, you can see here:
When you buy a second hand version, make sure to get a licence transfer through Adobe here:
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/transfer-product-license.html
Ultimately, you must be able to see that it is yours here:
https://www.adobe.com/account/my-products-services.html
It is also necessary that the previous owner has deactivated on any computer.
But you can get help from Adobe with that in a chat here (just click the Still need help button straight away):
Serial number and activation support (non-CC, chat open between 5AM and 7PM PST on workdays)

Hi Jacob Thanks
But i bought it from e-gear.dk they sell some of your products in Denmarks
So i installed it but it crashed down after that i restarted my computer and reinstalled it. then it sayd that there where more than one using that license. leading me to believe that the license is in use on this computer and it wont allow me to use it when i install the program. ps. i've deleted every AI CS6 and tried again no luck

Ah, Allan.
Obviously, it is, or should be, a brand new licence, you may soon find out.
From CS5 on, registration forms part of activation.
Have you registered, using this page?
https://www.adobe.com/account/my-products-services.html
Otherwise, you should.
To solve the actual issue, you may try a full reinstallation
A) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences if applicable),
B) run the Cleaner Tool, and
C) reinstall.

Hi again
Sorry to bother you
But it's a tricky situation the license is only used on this computer and this user but it says the license is in use on another pc
And it will not accept the license on my user like it's in use by another or something wich seems odd to me

Allan,
I am afraid we are (more or less) back to the suggestions in the first post, then.
You may:
1) Go here and see whether you are/can be registered with the licence key (as I said, the registration is part of activation for CS5 and CS6, so it must be done):
https://www.adobe.com/account/my-products-services.html
2) Failing 1), try to get help from Adobe with that in a chat here or here (just click the Still need help button straight away) to esyablish whether someone else has registered or what may be the issue:
Adobe ID and registration support (non-CC, chat open between 5AM and 7PM PST on workdays)
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/service-c1.html
Serial number and activation support (non-CC, chat open between 5AM and 7PM PST on workdays)
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/service1.html
3) Depending on the outcome of 1) + 2), get back to the seller and try to get a solution (which may be money back).

Hi Jacob
I've tried calling they won't help cause it's a cs product and not a cc, they say i have to go here.
When i punch in the serial number on this account it say's it's in use, this is the only account we have.
So that doesn't help, can the provider in this instance e-gear.dk close the license and give a new one-
-or am i screwed and just blown 580 usd in the sink.

Allan,
Adobe chat should provide support concerning ID, registration, serial number, and activation. What they do not cover is help to get things running.
So it should be possible to get them to tell you that the licence key is registered to someone (other than you), or why you get that refusal when you try to register.
In any case, you will (probably) have to get back to the seller and ask for a refund; this may also reveal how legit they are.
Apart from all that, you can still buy CS6 from Adobe; you need to use the phone number at the bottom of this page:
