Illustrator cuts images from PDF

Hi, why Illustrator cuts the image opening a PDF file?

The image in the left it's taken from the pdf file opened in Acrobat, the right one, from Illustrator

The image also not seems in the same position as the original one.

Has that PDF been saved with "Illustrator editability" turned on?

Because if not, it's just a plain PDF for Illustrator.

So you open the PDF in Illustrator and that happens?

Which application did you use to create the PDF?
