Illustrator + database?.. how to do it

Hello, i need to start a project of business card with illustrator, is the first time i have to work with variables and as long that i have a big database with names and a lot of info to add i think that the best thing to do would be to connect them togheter, but i have no idea of how to do it. I know i have to work with a xml and a scrip...

Can anybody help me with this?

do a google search for the term: illustrator "data driven graphics".

it should return tutorials like this one: http://www.adobe.com/uk/designcenter/illustrator/articles/ill10datadrvn.html

effectively, data sets are the answer.

not as good as indesign's data merge facility, which is what i would use instead.

You really need to provide more details of the workflow… From a personal point of view I would avoid xml if using script to automate your process… You will however need xml if you are to use Illustrator's built-in datasets…
