illustrator does not show file contents

Illustrator stopped showing the contents of some files, this happens with both PDF and EPS. Attached is an example of a file whose contents it can not display. I sent someone to check, the effect is the same.

 

In canva it works.

    Well... I am able to use acrobat to extract the missing vectors.
    I extracted them from pages that ILL shows as empty

    In illustrator I am not able to do that. Why?



    You can also extract that using Illustrator when you create a new file and then place the other file. WIth that you force Illustrator to use the PDF part of the file.

    In the shared file, the artwork layer is set to hidden:

    This may not be the case in other apps because of some divergence between the AI side of the file (which other apps can't open) and the EPS. This may have occurred if you're opening the file and making changes in other apps as well as Illustrator.

      Whoops, childish mistake...

       

      This one will be tougher  @Doug A Roberts - why does Ai only open a couple of pages?

      By dragging the file through Acrobat, I was able to open all the pages, but in ai, I see only a few

        The missing pages seem to consist entirely of linked images. Obviously the links are broken at my end.

        The PDF side of the file will contain the images embedded.
