Illustrator Effects Gallery Too Tiny

I have seen others with this problem but have not seen an answer.  How can I enlarge the interface of the Effects Galley?  It is unusable as is.

    All you can do is make the artboard bigger, nto the type or preview icons, unless you decrease your monitor resolution.

    The preference for making the user interface bigger disappointingly does not  affect the effects gallery.

    Most people do not use the photoshop effects, as you can do the same in photoshop and better, and they can slow down the Illustrator app and give your design a canned look. They may look appealing and important at first but they are not very practical. Gaussian blur is the most used.
