Illustrator Eraser Tool Behavior

Using AI (28.4.1) on Win 11 23H2

In PS I can use the several tool and click and holding Shift key and click on a point on the other end. This will either erase or paint a corresponding line at the other end. 

Is this not a feature inside AI?

Appears in AI I have to hold the left mouse key and drag to get the eraser to draw a straight line..

When you hold Alt, you can drag a rectangle to erase.

Thanks Monika, I can see some advantages there. Would be nice if the Adobe teams could better manage common tool processes. IOW whether using a tool in anyone of the apps inherit the same way.
