Illustrator export to 32bit .png using 'export to screens'

I have created an Illustrator file with 80 art boards at 128 x 128 pixels for a range of single stroke icons I have designed for a software application. The developer wants transparent 32bit .png files. He is not on a MAC.
I have used the 3 export options available but, although transparent, the icons keep being rendered 8 bit.

I really want to use the 'export to screens' option as I can reduce the size of the .pngs to 25x25 pixels in the settings but leaving my original art at a larger size.

I have tried changing the settings in the 'export to screens' dialog box and my understanding from some research was that making it transparent adds an alpha layer for the transparency and that this should be 24 or 32 bit - however I am a designer with not a lot of back end tech nous so I will not pretend to be knowledgeable in this area.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes Photoshop will show 8 bit because Photoshop is showing you bits per channel. Photoshop has a 32 bit mode, but that is 32 bits per channel; RGB is 96 bits in this mode. Essentially you need to know how the tool counts bits before you can use the number.

Thank you for your responses - apologies for my delay in getting back to you.

The problem was sorted out by trashing my preferences in Illustrator - it was extremely frustrating and cost me a day of time.

Totally agree with Test Screen Name the file depth will be 32 bit.

I produced a file using the Export options, and...

In windows you can check by right clicking on the file produced and going to details and it give you the bit depth in there, like so...

I'm sure there has to be a similar way to check on a Mac..? Get info of the file...?

I did however open the file in Photoshop and it did only show 8 bit, not sure why it does this but the file is definitely 32 bit.

32bit PNG = 8 bits red, 8 bits blue, 8 bits green, 8 bits alpha

    32 bit is just the normal transparent PNG. 8 bits per channel, 4 channels. You write "keep being rendered 8 bit". It occurs to me that the problem might be in how you check. So... How do you check, and where do you get the "rendered 8 bit" info?
