Illustrator File Format Question

Engaged ,
Mar 08, 2025 Mar 08, 2025

I tried to save this file local and it told me it was a 2020 version.

What is the difference between and online version and a desktop version?

I need to give a copy to a client after I do the work. I don't need to put this into the cloud

The file format is now generally named after the 2020 version. It's compatible for all versions 2020 and up. YOu only need to be careful with objects from newer functions when opening in a lower version.

If you want to give the file to your client, you need to save locally.

Cloud version is practical for easy sharing.

@Monika Gause Thanks for the comments. I'll always used the latest. I'll never open new in lower versions...unless CC base price rises beyond a $100/month.
