Illustrator File Menu is empty after updating app

My Adobe Illustrator updated today and now when I click on the File menu, the menu is empty. Tried uninstalling and re-installing and the issue still persists.

Any ideas how to get this back?

Did you already try resetting the preferences?

If nothing helps: run the Cleaner tool in between uninstalling and reinstalling. https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

I'd suggest first using the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner tool to be absolutely sure any remnants of a bad install on your system are removed. you can find out more about the CC Cleaner tool through this link. This may get you a cleaner install of the latest version of Illustrator.

If not, use the CC Cleaner tool again to clean out your system and reinstall the previous version. Hopefully it won't come to that.

Another thing I'd suggest is going to your Creative Cloud application and turning off the automatic updates for your Adobe apps. You'll still be informed when there are updates are available, but you will be able to do those updates on your terms, rather than Adobe's.

Hope this helps
