Illustrator GPU (animated zoom) not working correctly

New Here ,
Jan 29, 2024 Jan 29, 2024

When working in Illustrator the preview of my design does not show correctly. It gets blurry all the time (and stays that way, until I go from GPU to CPU) and shows all kind of elements which are actually hidden behind a clipping-mask for example.

Problem solved after a complete reinstall of nvidia drivers with the tool https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download/

That will do the trick.

Case closed. Nice day

Hello @Elineeee___,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Are you using a Windows computer? If yes, kindly try performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://adobe.ly/489HQ5b) to check if it helps.

If you're using a Mac, try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) to check if it helps.

Also, ensure the OS/Illustrator is up to date (Windows / macOS) (Illustrator Updates) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hi,

I am using a Macbook Pro.
I tried working under a different administartor account, but the same problem appears here as well.
All programs and systems are updated.

Hopefully there is another way to solve this?

Thanks!

Please check if there's an update for your graphic card driver available. Use the studio driver, not the gaming driver.

Hello @Igor24024870w099,

We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind trying to manually reset Illustrator's preferences and checking if it helps:

For macOS

• Close all Adobe applications.

• Go to the following locations

• ~/Library/Caches

• ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe

• ~/Library/Preferences

• Rename Adobe Illustrator, com.adobe.illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 28 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old, com.adobe.illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator 28 Settings.old

• Launch Illustrator from the Creative Cloud.

Note: Location starting with this "~" sign indicates the User Library, which is hidden. So, you need to copy & paste the exact path in spotlight search or from Finder Menu > Go > Go to Folder > Paste the location in the dialog box like this:

Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also save a backup of the folders in case you want to. The location is mentioned above.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hello @vicky.kim,

Thanks for reaching out. For macOS, the Adobe Illustrator folder needs to be renamed to Adobe Illustrator.old, the com.adobe.illustrator file needs to be renamed to com.adobe.illustrator.old, and the Adobe Illustrator 28 Settings folder needs to be renamed to Adobe Illustrator 28 Settings.old. All of these files and folders are located under the following folder locations:

~/Library/Caches

~/Library/Application Support/Adobe

~/Library/Preferences

The locations starting with this "~" sign indicate the User Library, which is hidden. So, you need to copy & paste the exact path in spotlight search or from Finder Menu > Go > Go to Folder > Paste the location in the dialog box like this:

Kindly let us know if the steps shared above helped. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,
Anubhav

Hi. I was wondering why some illustrator artworks allow animated zoom and others not. After making some investigations, I've discovered the the use of Color Profiles makes animated zoom to being disabled. Don't use Color Profiles if you don't need it.
