After updating my OS to Sonoma, I had issues with files saving — well, one file as it was the only one I tried to save. Once I reset my Illustrator preferences, everything worked properly. Thank you, Abhishek Rao, for your suggestion.

Hi @NIsanth5E84

Thanks for sharing the details, and I understand how frustrating this must be. Let’s try to narrow this down a bit.

1. Could you confirm the exact version of macOS Sonoma you’re using (e.g., 14.1.1)?

2. Is Illustrator freezing when opening a specific file, or does this happen even when creating a new file or opening a blank window?

3. Since when has this issue been occurring? Was Illustrator working fine before updating the OS or making other changes?

4. If possible, could you share a screen recording of the issue? It will help us understand the workflow and when Illustrator gets stuck.

In the meantime, try resetting Illustrator preferences:

Let me know if this helps or if the issue persists, and we’ll dig deeper!

Thanks,

Abhishek Rao

Since this happens on opening:

Do you have a printer? Pinter driver installed and printer turned on?

Where are the files? On your harddisk?

Hello @NIsanth5E84,

I hope the suggestions Mohammad and Monika shared helped resolve the problem. If not, try running Illustrator under Safe Mode (macOS) and a different administrator account (macOS) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Anubhav
