Illustrator is undoing my work with every keystroke

Hello,

I'm new to illustrator so this is probably user error. However, Illustrator keeps undoing my work with any keystroke I do after I create a shape or select something. I tried resetting the preferences as someone had a similar issue in 2019 in the threads. I'm on AI version 29.1

I've got no security programs running, nothing automated in the background that would switch my keys. I'm using a Wacom tablet with all express keys disabled.  Many thanks in advanced.

Did you try it without the Wacom attached?

Thanks Ton! It works without the Wacom attached. Apparently, when new apps are added, Wacom software version 6.4.2-1 will create new application profiles. It created a new profile for AI with an 'undo' key assigned to one of the Wacom buttons. I disabled that and it works! I would not have figured that out if I didn't detach my Wacom per your suggestion.

Is your computer running the latest Wacom Tablet Driver:
Version 6.4.8-2, released Nov 21, 2024?

I've ranted about it many times before (and developers at Microsoft and Wacom seem totally oblivious to the problem) but Windows Ink is very horrible. I almost always have it disabled in the Wacom tablet properties box. The strange undo problem you describe sounds different from some of the other infuriating behaviors I've seen Windows Ink inflict on a Wacom tablet. Still, if Windows Ink is enabled in the Wacom tablet properties I'd suggest disabling it. If you're using a Mac then this "solution" doesn't apply.

I've found disabiling Apple's "Ink" also helpful - If the MacOS is Catalina or lower. (Ink was deprecated at Catalina) I haven't experienced what is being described, but there's not a lot of info in the OP.

Thanks Scott! Turns out it was my Wacom preferences. The Wacom software created a new profile for AI and assigned an 'undo' function to one of my Wacom buttons.

Ahh, yeah watch those Wacom drivers. They can be problematic. I always keep 1 older version driver backed up so I can reinstall the old driver when a new driver causes issues (which is actually not that rare). I've lost count of how many times over the years i've reverted Wacom drivers due to issues 10 minutes after installing one of their updates. They are stellar at hardware.. but not as solid at sotware sometimes.

Thanks for the information Bobby, I'm on a Mac. However, when I'm at work on a Windows machine - Ink is quite infuriating. Turns out it was my Wacom tablet preferences.
