Illustrator: Mockup tool not working properly

Hi guys, could someone please help me understand what's wrong with my mockups?

When I select both the vector object and the image of the mockup product, I am able to seemingly create a mockup. However, when it finishes processing, I am left with a bunch of straight vector lines instead of an actual whole image. 

 

What seems weird is that on the preview images, the mockup appears as it should, but once placed on the artoboard, it reverts to those straight lines. 

 

Has anyone encountered this issue before? Is there a simple solution that I'm missing out on?

This looks like the action takes each shape and connect its first point and the opposite point by line colored in the shape fill color (keeping in memory the shape' real paths). Could you please (just for experiment) try to use one simple shape, e.g. ellips ot star? It's certainly a bug but we could try to find the point when it starts to destroy the artwork.


Hi Anna, apologies for the late reply. I've tested it again today, using singular shape, shape + text, and complex shape +text, and all seems to be working fine. Unsure if a hotfix has been deployed but haven't encountered the issue again.

What happens when you move the vector art around on that shirt?

Hi Monika, when I move the vector art, the entire image is clearly visible. It's when I place it, it reverts to being straight lines instead of holding the shape.

I've attached a brief screen recording of how it looks on my end

OK, that's pretty weird. My question would have been if you can find a place where it works.

 

And it's not just this image, but all you try?


Hi Monika, all seems to be working agaon. Not sure what has happened but haven't enountered the same issues today.

Preview is not a real vector work; it just works with a raster "avatar" of your shape. I could not repeat the issue. Could you please show a step-by-step workflow? Your artwork before adding to mockup, then both selected, then a result. This can help to understand which step provides the problem.
And which version of Illustrator do you use?

Hi Anna, I'm using version 29.1 (literally updated yesterday). I've recorded the process to heplfully assist you with replicating the issue.
