Illustrator Not Responding to "Place" and Save Commands

Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing a critical issue with Adobe Illustrator.

  • Nothing happens when I press Ctrl + Shift + P or go to File → Place.
  • Both Save and Save As are also unresponsive.

I've already tried several troubleshooting steps, including:

  • Updating all Adobe apps to the latest version.
  • Resetting Illustrator’s preferences.
  • Cleaning the installation using the Adobe Cleaner Tool.
  • Ensuring all apps have proper access to my file system (Windows 11).

Despite these efforts, the issue persists, making Illustrator practically unusable. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Update: It seems the issue occurs when I try to edit a linked image or PSD file.

After making edits in Photoshop and returning to Illustrator, the "Place" function stops working entirely—it doesn’t respond at all.

Any insights or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

I tried replicating this behavior on my end but could not. Would you mind confirming the version of Illustrator/Photoshop installed and sharing a small screen recording of your exact workflow and the problem, so I can better assist you?

Also, try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows) and share your observations.
