Illustrator noticed that you are using this file on a network

I tried to save a Client file today and received this message:

Illustrator noticed that you are using this file on a network. Would you like to optimize your file open and save time for slow networks? To change this setting, choose Preferences > File Handling & Clipboard > Optimize File Open and Save Time on Slow Networks.

I have been using Illustrator from my home office for years, not on a network and have never seen this message before. I have made no changes since I used the program yesterday...

What is causing this to happen? I hesitate to save my file... I am not sure what to do.

Anyone else experience this?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. This is not an error message but a notification if you want to use this additional feature Illustrator provides for network files. You may turn on or off Optimize File Open and Save Time on Slow Networks (Beta) under Preferences > File handling & Clipboard. I am also attaching a screenshot for your reference:

This will not change any workflow that you follow. Hope it helps.

Thank you. Is this a new feature? I have been using AI for many years and have never seen this before. I have turned off this option in Preferences.
