Illustrator Percentage question

I hope I'm explaining this properly and well enough to get an answer! We need to add warning labels to existing graphics (they are stickers mostly rectangle) at a specific percentage. That percentage is 35% of the sticker. My question is, is there anyway to take a shape and constrain any resizing to 35% of that shape no matter how I distort the width or height? We wont be using any organic shapes only square and rectangle variations. Example; i have a 6 by 6 square that i need 35% of, sometimes I may want to go exactly to the edges which makes it easy to find 35% but if i want to be 1/8in off the edges it will cut down on my overall % and id like it to scale accordingly. Thanks in advance!

If i understand correctly the problem, which is less than sure… Illustrator is doing the math for you. Lets say you have a 6x6 inches square…

Enter 6 in*35% in the Width field and press enter. be sure to have the chain activated to keep the W/H proportions

    Ryan,

If you mean that the object is to be resized to 35% of the sticker size, just select it and in the Transform palette insert [Sticker width]*0.35 in the W box and [Sticker height]*0.35 in the H box.
