Illustrator Previews in Windows 10 explorer?

I was under the impression that it wasn't possible.

Then i turned on "Preview Pane" on my PC at work, (W10 version 1803) and to my surprise, it was also showing previews for all illustrator CC files.

Sadly, that's not the case on my home Windows 10 PC. It previews PDFs, but not CC files.

Both PCs run the same windows 10 version. My home PC runs a slightly newer version of CC, and that's the only relevant difference i can think of.

Any ideas?

You'll need to make sure that the right application is set as default.  Usually it is anyway, but if .AI files are set to open with PDF or something else by default you won't get the previews.  I can see previews on my PC and it's running windows 10, although I don't use preview pane much as it can cause some issues with file explorer.

Apart from that I don't know of any other settings off hand that would affect this.

I used to get previews of Adobe files (.AI, .pdf) in the preview pane on Windows Explorer (Win 10 pro) until I installed the latest CC2019 apps. Now it only shows jpgs, pngs etc. Everything works fine on my laptop where I'm still running the CC2018 apps.

I've updated file associations, e.g. AI 2019 opens all .AI and .eps files etc. but it still hasn't solved the issue.

Adobe's solution was, unsurprisingly, to use Adobe Bridge, but I find it slow and clunky.
