Illustrator printing colour rendition issues....

Hi,

We are having an issue with color rendition when printing an illustrator doc that has assets with opacity or shadow applied to them. The print has a yellowish tint to it.

We have had the printer checked by the canon technicians who confirm that the issue is with the print dialog side not the printer - Canon Imagepress C265 less than 12 months old.

'Print 01' shows a screenshot of the PDF and 'Print 02' shows the printed file...

What can I do to end up with an accurate colour rendered print image.

Thanks in advance...

Phil

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Let me help you resolve this color rendering issue with your Canon Imagepress C265 prints. Yellow tint when printing documents with opacity/shadows is usually related to color management and transparency flattening settings.
First, confirm that the document is in CMYK and at 300dpi
Make sure that the color profile of the document matches the printer's requirements, from a quick search it seems that it works with the “CMYK: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2” profile.
You can adjust the profile in Edit > Color Settings
Before printing, select all objects with opacity/shadows, go to Object > Flatten Transparency and use these settings:
    Preset: High Resolution
    Raster/Vector Balance: 100 Vector
Line Art and Text Resolution: 300 PPI
Gradient and Mesh Resolution: 300 PPI

Confirm that none of the colors are outside the Print Gamut, Illustrator demonstrates in the color picker with a “!” next to the color, in the color window or in the color picker. Clicking on the “!”.

In the Print Window, in color management configure
    - Printer Profile: Canon Imagepress C265
-Color Management: "Let Illustrator determine colors"
    -Grayscale: Dot Gain 20%
    - Rendering Intent: Relative Colorimetric

This is to test and identify the correct output of the material. I hope this helps

Hi, many thanks for the reply.

After implimenting your recommendations the was only a marginal improvement in colour rendition.

I will need to speak to our IT department and arrange a fresh install of the print dialogue.

    Many thanks

    Phil
