Illustrator scripting/actions - Looking for an expert consultant

Hello!

The company I represent/own does a ton of template building within Adobe Illustrator. As an example of what we are in need of I'll offer a quick description of what we do and what we ultimatedly want to solve for.

We create a design for a sports jersey across a series of panels within a single artboard. Once the file is good for production we have to save down a file for each size needed. Currently this involves us manually scaling the components to fit the panels in each size and then clipping them to a shape. The file has layers with masks for each size within it.

Ideally we want to have a script and/or ation that will do the scaling based on preset parameters and then clip the shapes in the same script/action. Maybe it requires two actions/scripts that work indepently, we don't know the answer to that. That's what brings us here!

Please reach out if you think you could handle this (if it's even possible based on what we share) and would like to talk about the project.

Brandon

without more information, I would say this is definitely do-able and not overly complicated. The possible issues comes down to the scaling and clipping things. a well organized file though is a great start point for what you're asking for.

feel free to direct message more specific images of start to finish process if you'd like a more detailed opinion.

Does that mean you would rather like to treat your request confidentially or are you willing to publicly share at least one source file with precise instructions about the desired workflow?

Hello! We wouldn't want to publicly share a file out of potential concern for any competitive advantage someone could get with our proprietary template file, but we can share a file privately - no problem!

You may share it privately in this case, of course.

You may be interested in a variable-data extension that is currently out called "Darty-Ai".
It can do all that you wish using Excel/spreadsheets, including the clipping and moving art about layers/groups, with changing colors, etc.

UPD: I see you said you use CS6, in which case.. sorry to say, the following is not applicable until version 2024.

AI is and should only ever be, Adobe Illustrator!

What they traditionally market nowadays is actually, "HI", for hallucinatory intelligence.

By the way, by the way, "Darty-Ai" not only imports straight from Excel, but now - it can do so directly from Google Sheets and OneDrive sheets... from online!
I recommend trying it out to see if the plugin itself functions on your system, then await our upcoming upgrade for next week: remote data access, convenient like never before!

Hear, hear!

I'm going to refer to the Adobe artificial intelligence as A1 (a-one) from now on.

I totally figured as much but now days you can never be too careful.

I figured your software wouldn't work, I had already went to check it out and saw it was for cloud systems.

And that's totally understandable.
