Illustrator shapes

Hi All,

I'd like to create, under Illustrator, this kind of effect you can find out on attached file.
But I don't know how to do it. Anyone knows? Thanks!

Create some irregular dashes as an art brush or as a pattern brush

Apply them to the paths

Copy and paste those paths and apply solid strokes with gradients on them

Apply the dashed strokes as an opacity mask to the gradient lines.
